Liturgical ministries are an opportunity to serve our parish community in a special way at the Mass. The Mass is our central act of worship as Catholics and the primary gathering of our faith community. Liturgical ministers are an essential part of our celebration of the Mass and, therefore, serve an instrumental role in our parish. Liturgical ministries include Sacristans, Altar Servers, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Hospitality Ministers, and Greeters.
Sacristans:
Sacristans assist the presider at Mass by preparing the holy vessels and altar, among other responsibilities. In essence, sacristans hold an important role in helping all the behind-the-scenes details of the liturgy run smoothly. Training is required to participate. For more information, please contact Robyn Ginther at [email protected]
Altar Servers:
Altar Servers are 4th graders on up who assist the presider at daily, weekend, and funeral Masses. For more information, please contact Deacon Jeff Volker at [email protected]
Lectors:
Lectors proclaim the Scriptures at Masses and other liturgical services. Brief training is required to participate. For more information, please contact Mike Wobbe at [email protected]
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion:
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion have the privilege of assisting with distributing Communion at Masses. Some also take Communion to those who are homebound or in care centers. A special application and training is required to participate. For more information, please contact Kris Hoeger at [email protected].
Ambassadors:
Ambassadors (aka ushers) handle the peripheral business of a Mass. We greet parishioners, help them find seats, take up the collection, assist with those that want Communion brought to them, start parishioners lining up for Communion, hand out bulletins and do a quick verification that the Church is clean and orderly. For more information, please contact Pat O'Connor at [email protected].
Children's Liturgy of the Word:
Children's Liturgy is a ministry focused on helping the youth of our parish ( 4 year old PK to 2nd grade/ First Communion) grow in knowledge and relationship with our Lord by providing a Liturgy of the Word geared toward young mind and hearts. CLOW is offered during 10:30 am Sunday Mass. More adult leaders & assistants are needed to help sustain & grow this ministry. For more information, please contact Nicole Trapani at [email protected].
Greeters:
The role of greeters is to make every person who comes through the church doors for a weekend liturgy feel a part of our parish family by welcoming and supporting them in a positive and friendly manner. If you have interest in being a part of this new parish ministry, please contact Dori Dilger at [email protected]
