Suggested Prayer Resources
Prayer Retreat Talk Videos Below:
Prayer is, in essence, a conversation between us and God. Prayer can be very personal, but it is never private. At St. Joseph, we have a number of opportunities to join with others in our faith community for prayer. As our faith teaches, the Mass is the highest form of prayer, when we gather together in the liturgy to hear God's word and celebrate the Eucharist. There are many other ways to pray too. For various Catholic prayers, click here.
Prayer Shawl Ministry:
Prayer Shawls are a labor of love, being crocheted or knit by a group that gathers regularly and prayers over the shawls as they are being made. The shawls are blessed and given to those in need of prayers. The group meets at 1:00 PM on the first Wednesday of every month in the St. Joseph Room. For information about joining the group, please contact Sharon Reilly at sreilly3@imonmail.com.
To request to receive a Prayer Shawl, please contact Deacon and Pastoral Minister, Deacon Jeff Volker, at j.volker@dbqarch.org or 319.377.4869.
Silent Prayer:
Join with others for a time of silent prayer in the church on Fridays from 6:30-7:00 PM. All are welcome to come pray. The church is also available throughout the day for prayer, as long as there is not an activity going on.
Eucharistic Adoration:
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is available on Mondays following daily mass until 9:00 PM. If you would like to be a committed adorer, please sign-up at www.stjoesmarion.org/adoration. For more information contact Becky Bostwick at 319.826.1076 or at bjbostwick@gmail.com or Deacon Dennis Terness at 319.377.4869 or at d.ternes@dbqarch.org.
Prayer Ministry:
The Seven Sisters Apostolate is a call to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a Holy Hour is prayed in front of the Blessed Sacrament each day of the week for the sole intention of a specific priest or bishop. Each member commits to a Holy Hour on a distinct day of the week, thus covering a complete week. The commitment is to that day; the Seven Sister may pray at any time on that day. Please contact Rosemary Bauer at bauerr1983@my.uwstout.edu for more information.
Lectio Divina:
Lectio Divina is a prayerful reading of the Sacred Scriptures. We offer Lectio Divina prayer opportunities on a season basis but encourage you to pray with the Word of God on a regular basis.
Prayer Requests:
If you have a prayer request you would like submitted on the prayer chain, please contact Deacon Jeff Volker at 319.377.4869 or click here.
Healing Prayer:
On the second Monday of every month, we offer Healing Prayer in the church from 6:00-7:00 PM in the church along with Adoration. Small prayer teams will be available to pray with you on an individual basis to interced for you and your needs, or the needs of a loved one. All are welcome.
